Gear Review: Avenger C-Stand and Boom Arm

For photographers, a light-stand can open up new worlds.  The ability to get that flash off-camera can give you much more control over an image.  It's a very basic tool that can allow for major possibilities.

You may start small with a  LumoPro LP605 7 Foot Compact Light Stand  or a few  Cowboy Studio Aluminum Adjustable Light Stand  but eventually you will want to gravitate towards something that holds more weight and gets more height.  I mean what's the point of having a 7' parabolic umbrella if you can't get more that 1 inch off the ground.  


That's when you might need to gravitate towards an  Avenger Steel 40-Inch Detachable Base C-Stand w/ Grip Kit  With a maximum load of 22lbs and a max height of 10 feet, the stand can hold just about anything and give enough high to get well above a subject. 


The grip kit can be used to attach a strobe with most small accessories as well.  So far, I've had no problems strapping on an Alienbee B800 and a 22inch beauty dish.
